26 Mar CBC English Service Cuts: digital round-up

CBC English Service management held a Town Hall today to detail specific cuts.  Here are the broad brush strokes:

  • 5 CBC radio shows cut
  • 50% music cut to music recordings
  • The Current cut by 10%
  • 80 jobs in English news
  • 20 jobs cut in marketing
  • 12 jobs cut in communications
  • budget reductions in prime time programming
  • more money for CBC.ca
  • two bureaus left with only one person (La Ronge and Thompson, MB)
