12 Mar House Speaker cracks down – smartly

In my years of watching and working at the House of Commons, this is the toughest the Speaker has ever been. MP’s will calm down for a few days; the key is can he keep them calm?

C’était passé temps; I can’t believe some of the things some people (most from a certain party…) feel entitled to say during members’ statements. I hope the Speaker is actually planning to enforce this, not just reiterate it.

(I think he could also have benefited from some drama classes during his formative years; one of the things we learned was how to read a speech from paper while looking at the audience.)
